Oven baked Beignet aka donut

Beignet, fritter, or any form of deep fried dough is a donut to me 🙂 And, an ‘any time’ snack. As in pan frying, you can easily and quickly and pain-freely (OK, painlessly) make them in the combi steam oven. The idea is to generously coat the dough with oil before putting them in a hot oven.

Ingredients
Bread/Sweet dough/Brioche dough (any recipe – check online)
oil
Icing/castor sugar

Method
1. Cut, size & shape the dough
2. Place on a lined baking pan and proof in the oven, uncovered (Steam 30c, until they double in size, around 30 mins)
3. Preheat the combi steam oven to 170c
4. Get another lined baking pan ready.
5. Pour half a cup of oil into a bowl
6. Dip each piece of dough in oil and place onto the other baking pan (pronto! the sooner the oil dipped dough hits the oven, the less oil will be absorbed)
7. Bake for 15 mins
8. While warm, coat donuts with icing/castor sugar
9. Using a piping bag with a tip, pipe jam into those cute donuts

Mmm, donuts..(can totally relate to Homer)
